Lots of dangling wires in Peshawar
Dangling wires of electricity, accessible power meters in streets and naked cables pose serious threats to the lives of the people in different localities of the provincial metropolis.
The situation becomes more dangerous during the rain as children play near the power meters and touch the cables in their areas. The problem is common in the old city areas.
The dangling electric wires and naked cables can easily be observed in the narrow streets, particularly in Karimpura,
Ander Shehr, Kohati, Danishabad, Akbar Town and Qissa Khwani, etc.
The residents of those areas said that incidents of terrorism and bomb blasts made the situation worse because the entire power supply system was disrupted. The Wapda employees usually tried to restore supply temporarily instead of replacing the old wires, they added.
However, Pesco spokesman in a statement on Monday asked people to adopt all precautionary measures in the current winter rains to avoid electric shocks for their safety.
