Two children electrocuted in Islamabad during rainfall
ISLAMABAD: At least four children lost their lives in two separate tragic incidents involving electrocution and drowning in Islamabad.
In the first incident, two children were electrocuted when the when they inadvertently touched an electricity generator in Sector F-11/2 during rain. The victims were identified as 8-year-old Ghulam and 5-year-old Waqas.
In another incident, two drowned in a pond at Banni Gala in Dhoke Jandi on Saturday while swimming, according to rescue officials,
The tragic incident occurred when three children had gone from their homes to swim in the pond. One child returned home, but the other two tragically drowned while swimming.
The deceased juveniles have been identified as Muhammad Hassan, 10 years old, and Wisal Khan, 12 years old.
Rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene. The bodies were recovered from the pond and have been handed over to their families. Meanwhile, police initiated investigations into both incidents.
The monsoon season, typically from July to August, bring torrential downpours but also poses significant challenges including flash floods, landslides, and infrastructure damage.
