Gujrat man electrocuted in rain-related incident
GUJRAT: A man was electrocuted and two others were injured in rain-related incidents on Sunday in Gujrat city of Punjab, media reported.
As per Rescue 1122, Nadeem Akhtar Dar, aged 45, suffered an electric shock in Muslimabad locality of the city. He was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) where doctors pronounced him dead.
In another incident, the roof of a house collapsed in Usman Pura locality near railway station, leaving a man and a child injured.
A team of Rescue 1122 reached the spot and rescued the family from the debris and shifted the injured to hospital.
Rescuers also evacuated at least five members of a family, including three children, from a house filled with rain water on Gharib Pura Road and shifted a safe location.
Punjab minister for local bodies Mian Zeeshan Rafique on Sunday visited the rain-affected areas in Gujrat city.
Talking to media at Kutchery Chowk which was the worst affected from rainfall, the minister said available resources and machinery was being used to drain out the rainwater.
He said the Punjab government had been working on a comprehensive and modern sewerage scheme for Gujrat.
