Two sisters die due to electric shock from faulty motor wire

KARACHI: Two sisters died after receiving an electric shock at their residence in Surjani Town on Monday, local media reported.

The incident occurred at Sector 7-D where the minor girls were playing in the yard of their small house when they accidently touched the wire of the water motor which was slightly peeled off. The girls collapsed in front of their father Naveed.

Police and rescuers responded after being alerted. The victims, identified as ten-year-old Manahil and seven-year-old Iqra, were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital following the incident.

According to a police report, the sisters were playing inside their home when they came into contact with a live wire from a water pump’s motor.

The girls received an electric shock due to the faulty fire and became unconscious. The girls’ father took his daughters from one hospital to another and refused to believe their daughters have died and urged doctors to check closely.

Finally, he took the girls to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where a senior doctor explained that the children have passed away.

Surjani Town police station SHO Akhlaq Ahmad said that the deceased young sisters were electrocuted by the wire of the water pump while playing at home.

He further said that the wire of the water pump was peeled off from and the girls inadvertently grabbed the wire due to which both the girls fainted due to electric shock. They were taken to the hospital where doctors confirmed their death.
