Minor girl rescued after falling in manhole in Karachi
KARACHI: Another incident of a child falling into an open manhole has emerged in Karachi, where a minor girl fell into an uncovered manhole in Sher Shah but was rescued by passing citizens.
According to media reports, CCTV footage has surfaced showing a girl falling into an open manhole on Muhammadi Road in Sher Shah.
Citizens around gather around the girl and promptly rescue her from the sewer. Fortunately, the girl remained unharmed in the incident.
Residents have stated that manhole covers are missing, but the municipal authorities are unwilling to address the issue, leading to frequent accidents.
It must be mentioned that incidents of falling into manholes have become common in the city, and many children have lost their lives.
In November last year, a minor two-year-old girl named Muskan died after falling into an uncovered manhole in Memon Goth area. The tragic incident reportedly took place in the constituency of Deputy Mayor of Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad.
Similarly in another incident in September last year, a minor two-year-old boy drowned in a sewer in the same area. The father and son were visiting the area to attend a function when they were met with the tragedy.
