Heavy vehicles restricted during the day in Karachi

With the increasing upheaval in the traffic system of Karachi, the Sindh High Court has now instructed the chief secretary to file a report regarding the movement of heavy vehicles during daytime in Karachi.

The heavy vehicles play a huge part in disrupting the traffic flow of the Karachi. These vehicles due to the size, take up a lot of space on the road, their speed can cause a lot of accidents and they usually cause traffic jams as maneuvering around them is very difficult for smaller vehicles such cars and bikes. These vehicles also contribute to noise and air pollution due to their obnoxiously loud horns and the smoke that they emit.

The DIG Traffic told the panel that they are taking all measures to ensure the restriction of the heavy vehicles during the day. He said, these vehicles will be restricted between 6am to 11pm and action against will be taken against traffic police officials in case of non-compliance of the court orders.

Hopefully these measures will help improving the traffic flow of the city and we see and a rather long term improvement than a short one.
