Fire engulfs nearly 300 stalls at the Islamabad Sunday Market
On Wednesday, a fire broke out in Islamabad’s H-9 Sunday Market. It spread very quickly and engulfed nearly 300 stalls there. The fire tenders of Capital Development were unable to extinguish fire hence additional resources were called and they were able to stop the fire in two hours.
According to the Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, nearly 20% of the market has been affected by the fire and the location was sealed completely.
As per a leading news portal, this not the first time that a fire broke out in this market however no reason behind this incident has ever been determined. No causalities have been reported.
The fire could have been caused for multiple reasons such as faulty electric wiring, the stall owners lighting a camp fire to stay warm in the cold weather or even cigarette stubs not being disposed of properly.
Fires cause a lot of other problems as well, such as, when you seal the area where the fire erupts, traffic gets affected. Infrastructure such as roads and electrical poles get damaged and at times results in power loss for a few days at a stretch.
Hence, it is extremely important to take the necessary precautions that would save you and not result in the eruption of fires. People must get training such as fire drills to be able to evacuate the place efficiently and know how to use equipment such as fire extinguishers to blow out the fire before it spreads to an uncontrollable scale.
