Road Accidents in Winters
Road accidents due to fog are very common occurrences in Pakistan during the winter. Fog is a cloud touching the ground. It usually happens during the winter season in Pakistan’s Punjab reason. As per the National Geographic website, in order for fog to form, dust or some kind of air pollution needs to be in the air. This is a common problem in Punjab region of Pakistan.
Fog stops you from seeing more away than one kilometer from your view point. When the drivers are unable to see the road properly, accidents and collisions are bound to happen.
In the recent times, on Monday morning, one man died and two were injured as a result of a road accident in Sadiqabad when a bus and a truck collided. In this case the visibility was reduced to only 10 meters which resulted in the accident.
It is extremely crucial to take the necessary precautions to save yourselves and other while driving in foggy conditions. Since fog results in reduced visibility, always keep your headlights on, keep your heater on as it reduces fog and use your windshield wipers to keep your windshield as clean as possible. Keep the speed of your car not too fast, not too slow. Keeping the speed too slow may result in collisions with other cars who are coming at a very high speed and if you are too fast, you may lose control of the car as the fog makes the road slippery.
Being careful while driving in the fog, and taking all the necessary precautions may go a long way in saving the lives of you and the others around you.
