Public transport problems that Karachiites can relate to

Karachi, the “city of lights”, has many problems and public transport system is one of them. Despite it being pocket friendly, it has its own risks comes with risks.

Karachiites see people waiting to catch a bus or rickshaw at street corners. However, their drivers, instead of stopping the bus, decrease the speed and that too in the middle of the road. The passengers have to dodge the traffic and board the moving vehicle.

Getting off from the moving bus is even more dangerous. People don’t know which kind of vehicle is coming toward them from behind. Naturally, chances of a person getting involved in an accident increase.

Moreover, the bus conductors are of little help.

The drivers race their vehicle to get to the destination and put human lives at stake.

Speaking about health concerns, the pressure horns used by the buses are a menace too. They are loud, causes noise pollution and may affect a person’s hearing.

The driver’s license also comes into play when addressing the concerns regarding public transport system of the provincial capital. People complain of drivers of buses and rickshaw not carrying the permit when they work, adding they are the ones to flee after an accident happens.

Then, there is the fare issue. Bus, rickshaws, taxis and even tongas charge passengers whatever they desire. They cite the increase in fuel prices as the reason for overcharging the masses.

It is why online taxi and ride services business has become a suitable option for people to adopt. The centre and provinces are launching metro bus services. They have many facilities such as cleanliness and ticket proper ticketing system.

Moreover, the people have to take care of their valuables from sneaky thieves who leave no stones unturned to steal items such as mobile phone and wallets with NIC or debit and credit cards.

The ministers have announced many times that the public buses and vehicles are no condition to function but are still on the roads. We can ask as to why such vehicles that still used for operations.
