Relentless rains cause massive flooding in Pakistan
Torrential rains wreaked havoc in southern Balochistan and Sindh. According to Al-Jazeera, more than 650 people have died across the country, and hundreds of thousands of people have been marooned and displaced.
Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan, has been inundated severely. More than 200 people have died in the province, 58 children, and more than 10,000 people were displaced. Also, nearly 22,000 houses have been destroyed.
This year’s average rainfall was 267mm, breaking the 30-year record of an average of 119mm. In Sindh province, the 30-year average was 107mm had broken as the rain touched 375mm this year. This year, the province has reported more than 140 flood-related deaths, including at least 66 children.
